Been a long time, ole’ friend…

Hi friends,

I’ve missed you.  It’s been years…literally.  A couple of my friends have asked me to start posting again, so I’m thinking about it…   I like keeping track of things I’ve loved in the past, if nothing else.  So, I’ll keep this short and just go over a few favorites I’ve been loving.  Not much has changed there…I’m still obsessed with the world of beauty and I think I will forever be.

cliniqueClinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation.  Well, I don’t have to time to explain how deep my love of this foundation goes…  So, I’ll sum it up by saying that it’s amazing.  It’s perfect and it’s truly my HG foundation.  It’s a good skin day in a bottle.  Tons of coverage, but wears well all day…even without a setting spray.  I get the color, Breeze, which is the lightest shade.  I get mine at Sephora, but Ulta carries it as well.  This gem retails for $28, but you only need a small amount.  Therefore, it lasts forever.

kvdKat Von D Lock-it Powder Foundation.  Um, this stuff is glorious.  I used it once and I knew it was going to be HG status and guess what?  It is.  I’ve bought it twice now and will continue to buy this as long as they make it.  You can use it alone, but I use it as a foundation setting powder.  I want my makeup locked and loaded…it doesn’t need to go anywhere until I wash my face.  The combo of this powder and the foundation above gives me a flawless finish all day.  Because of the pale skin thing…I wear the lightest shade in this too.  Light 42.  I also get this at Sephora and it retails for $35.  Pricey, I know.  BUT, so worth the splurge.  It’s amazing stuff, folks.

pixiSpeaking of locked and loaded makeup, I discovered this gem a couple of years ago and I just can’t fall in love with anything else.  It has stolen my heart.  It’s a setting spray, it’s by Pixi, it’s pink, and it smells like old fashioned cosmetics mixed with rose.  I imagine sitting in a fluffy, pink boudoir chair when I spray this.chair It feels amazing.  It gives skin a glow without looking greasy(there’s a fine line there).  It’s magical.  I even wondered if it’s made from unicorn tears, but I seriously doubt it.  I’m kidding of course, but my point is...BUY THIS NOW.  It keeps the oil-ies from my t-zone in check and just gives my makeup an airbrushed look.  I get it at Target and it retails for $15.  The proper name is Makeup Fixing Mist.  Throw this in your red cart the next time you’re out.  You’ll thank me later.

sgYears ago, in the depths of Target I discovered a brand called Soap & Glory.  I tried a few things, fell in love with the line, then Target stopped carrying it.  Go figure, I thought.  Fast forward and now it’s back not only at Target, but also at Ulta and Walgreens.  It’s ahhhh-mazing. It retails for $13-14, depending upon where you buy it.  I always say that Soap & Glory is my jam and it really is.  My favorite scent is the signature pink scent.  It’s girly, but also soapy and clean at the same time.  I love the entire line, but the body butter is out of this world good.  The best part, you can smell it on your skin all day.  Anyhow, this beauty is called The Righteous Butter.  It’s thick, fluffy, and sinks right in.  Not greasy at all.  And if you fall head over heels for the scent like I did, there’s a matching body mist and scrub.  Just thinking about it, makes me want to put some on right now.  It’s gorgeous and you will feel like a million bucks after putting it on.  Guaranteed.

ub

Last but certainly not least, is a pot of gold.  It’s called Ultrabland.  It’s from Lush.  And it just might be heaven on earth, if you ask me.  Lord have mercy.  First time I used it I thought, WHAT in the world is this?!  It’s perfection, is what it is.  I’ve used a million cleansers, but now nothing compares to this.  It retails for $30.  It’s pricey for cleanser, but you just need a tiny amount.  Great year round, but made for the winter months.  It’s basically like giving your skin a huge drink of water and coating it with moisturizer…just with one cleanse.  I could talk about Lush for days…uh, maybe years…but I will spare you for now.  If you suffer from dry skin, definitely pick this up.  Not much in it(as far as chemicals and such), so it would be great for even sensitive skin.  I look forward to washing my face at night when I have this in my arsenal.  It’s “bland” in the sense that there’s really no scent to it…but not in any other way.  It should be called “magical fairy dust”, if you ask me.  How do those people that name products find their jobs?  Cause I want THAT job.

That’s all I’ve got for now, beauties.  Hope that you find this post helpful.  It probably should come with the disclaimer of:  “You’re about to spend a lot of money after reading this.”   The real question is…what are you all loving right now?

Hope you’re well.  Much love.

June Favorites!

Well, I’m not certain where exactly June went but it’s already that time again.  I have quite a few stand out products this month that I’ve been loving, so let’s get to the good stuff…shall we??

essieEssie Style Hunter Nail Polish – This may turn into a mini infomercial because I love it that much.  I heard about it on my favorite beauty blogger’s blog, Vivianna Does Makeup.  Anna is such a lovely person, has impeccable taste, and can literally talk me into buying anything.  Her blog is filled to the brim with gorgeous posts and I can sit and read it for hours…err…um…days.  Here’s a link if you want to check it out:  http://www.viviannadoesmakeup.com.  Just make certain you nail your wallet to something before you click the link.  Anyhow, Anna told me about Style Hunter.  I picked it up in a recent trip to Target and rushed to brush it on my tips once I got home…no base or top coat in sight.  It’s a mixture of hot pink, red, and coral.  It last 5 days with no chipping….5 DAYS people.  And that was without a top coat.  Amazing durability.  Amazing color.  I find it looks great both with red and hot pink.  Pick this one up…it’s a beaut.  Here’s a link to the Essie page:  http://www.essie.com/search.aspx?q=style%20hunter

JMperfumeJo Malone Wild Bluebell Cologne – Oh my gosh.  At the beginning of the month, I received a sample of this and it was love at first sniff.  I love perfume samples and I can usually tell right away what’s going to be full bottle worthy.  This is whole gallon worthy.  It’s the perfect mix of clean vs. feminine.  I used up my sample in two or three days and purchased a full bottle right after that.  The staying power is incredible too.  Not an in your face scent, but just one that lingers enough to remind you that it’s still there…  Here’s what the Jo Malone site says:  Vibrant sapphire blooms in a shaded woodland. The delicate sweetness of dewy bluebells suffused with lily of the valley and eglantine, and a luscious twist of persimmon. Mesmerizing. It’s clean, slightly aquatic, slightly powdery, and definitely woodsy.  Well rounded and just amazing.  I wish computers had scratch n sniff screens, so that I could let you smell this.  I could never narrow my perfumes down to just one, but this has easily made it’s way into my top five.  Make sure you check it out when you’re near a Jo Malone counter or heck, order it unsniffed.  Dangerous I know, but you will love this…I promise!  http://www.jomalone.com/product/6451/18848/Fragrances/Colognes/Light-Floral/Wild-Bluebell/Wild-Bluebell-Cologne

TFmeltedOk, so I went into Sephora a few weeks ago and I must have had red on the brain.  Let’s face it…I normally DO have red on my brain as it’s my favorite color.  I had been seeing things all over the blogger world and Youtube about the new product by Too Faced called Melted.  I swatched the red shade they have, which is called Melted Ruby.  It was all over at that point.  Into my hands it went.  Have I mentioned that I have a real weakness for red lipstick?!  Talk about pigmented!!  You need the tiniest amount of this stuff and you can wear one layer as a pinky red or two layers as a vibrant true ruby red.  It goes on as a gloss, but dries fairly quickly.  Reminds me a bit of a stain when it dries, but it’s not quite as drying.  I do tend to wear a gloss or balm underneath when I wear lipstick anyhow.  Keeps dryness at bay.  This is very long wearing, even for a red.  I would encourage you to be careful when applying because it is SO pigmented and it can be hard to wipe off if you get outside the lines of your lips.  It’s supposed to be the consistency of melted lipstick and I would say that’s pretty accurate.  Loving this the more I use it and can’t wait to try other colors…there’s a new bright pink that’s right up my alley.  http://www.toofaced.com/p/lipsticks/melted/melted-ruby

foundationSo, I never was the type of person that believed in “summer” and “winter” foundations…until now.  Recently, I was going through my makeup stash and re-discovered a foundation that I had given up on.  It’s the Revlon Photoready Foundation and I have the shade, vanilla.  I tried my hand at it again and fell in love.  I thought, “what on earth was I thinking before?!”  Then it dawned on me.  I originally tried this in the fall/winter when I was battling some dry patches.  Now that it’s warmer and the dryness is at bay, I am really loving this.  It does cling to dry patches, which is why I stopped using it.  But if you don’t have dry skin or are like me in the warmer months and have your dry skin under control, this is for you.  It makes your skin look fresh, dewy, and hydrated….dare I even say, airbrushed.  Gorgeous stuff.  I doubt that I will reach for this in the fall/winter, but in the spring/summer….baby, hand it over.

elfblushLast but not least, is the most inexpensive item here.  I found this in my stash recently and I haven’t touched anything since.  You all know how obsessed I am with blush, right?  Well, this is the perfect shade of pink…not too light and not too dark…pigmented, and sparkly.  I dig sparkles.  Like, a lot.  Mind you, this isn’t a “disco ball” type of sparkle and it’s not even glitter per say…it’s like it has diamond dust running throughout it.  LOVE.  It’s none other than Elf’s Studio Blush in the shade, Fuchsia Fusion.  It’s cheap…around three bucks and lasts forever.  Little goes a loooong way and while it may look scary in the pan, the payoff is beautiful.  I buy my Elf makeup at Target, but you can also purchase them online here:  http://www.eyeslipsface.com/studio/face/blush/studio_blush

That’s all I have for this month, but several of these have been true standouts to me.  What have you been loving this month?  Have you tried any of these products?  Would love to hear your thoughts, so please leave a comment below!

REN Guerande Salt Exfoliating Body Balm

Ok, first I need to confess something.  The topic of today’s post is something I have only used once.  Yes, once.  But, sometimes that’s all it takes in order to just know….you know?  What I mean by that is….you know you’re in love and you know this product is worth all the hype and you know it’s just amazing in every sense of the word.  Very long run-on sentence describing a very long product name.  It’s none other than the REN Guerande Salt Exfoliating Body Balm.

REN is a skincare line that specializes in keeping their products pure and clean.  I can’t speak for the rest of the line, as this scrub is the only thing I’ve tried…but, it’s definitely high quality.  I normally tend to go for sugar scrubs, but this is a salt scrub.  It’s scrubby, yet it’s not scrubby to the point that it hurts your skin.  The salt particles are finely milled and it goes on like a thick lotion….borderline body cream.  It literally feels so nice, that I hate to even wash it off down the drain.  It’s just that good.

It’s made with peppermint oil, but it doesn’t remind me of a pack of gum.  You know the peppermint I’m talking about…  It’s more like a “spa in the most luxurious city you can imagine” peppermint.  It’s soothing and relaxing, yet I can see how it would be invigorating too.  Especially if you use it in the morning or after a workout.  It leaves your skin feeling clean, cool, and moisturized.  Not the cheapest for a scrub, but it’s worth every single penny.  I can’t wait to buy more and I just got this one.  If you like scrubs at all, you need this in your life.  It’s seldom that something reaches the “I don’t want to wash this off” level with me.  But, this is glorious.  It smells like heaven, it feels like heaven, and it just transports you to another world.  Close your eyes, sniff, and let the scrubbing begin…  Nevermind the fact that it makes your skin feel like velvet afterwards.  I got mine at Nordstrom, but you can also order directly from Ren.  Here’s a link if you’re interested:  http://www.renskincare.com/p/3083/Guerande+Salt+Exfoliating+Body+Balm

I’m not affiliated, just a huge fan.  I can see myself hoarding this beauty just so I’m never without it.  I’ve tried a million scrubs in my lifetime, but dare I say this may be my favorite one of all.  Just gorgeous.  If you’ve tried this, I would love to hear your thoughts!  Any other recs from the line would be appreciated too.  I am dying to try more!

May Favorites!

Tags

, , , , , , , , , , , , ,

It’s that time of the month…again.  NOT that time, but rather…time for monthly favorites.  Some months it’s easy for me to pick my favorites, but other months…it’s difficult to narrow down.  I have a ton of favorites for May and some from April stayed in my current rotation of products.  ahem...Tanya Burr’s Lip Gloss.  Still a favorite and I think, will always be!  On with my loves from May…

L’oreal Boost It Volume Inject Mousse:  I find it strange to say that I have a holy grail mousse, but this stuff is amazing.  I have a lot of hair and it’s fine textured, so I love finding products that give me tons of volume.  Doesn’t flake, doesn’t make my scalp itchy, and doesn’t weigh my hair down.  It adds tons of volume, bounce, and life just as the name would suggest.  I picked mine up at Walmart, but it can be found anywhere L’oreal is sold.  Cheap, smells like expensive salon quality shampoo, and gives my hair the lift it needs.  If you have fine textured hair or just like lots of volume, definitely give this a shot.  Amazing stuff!  http://www.lorealparisusa.com/en/Products/Hair/Hair-Styling/Mousse/Advanced-Hairstyle-BOOST-IT-Volume-Inject-Mousse.aspx

Clarins Blue Orchid Face Treatment Oil:  This stuff is incredible.  I won’t go into great detail in this post because it has it’s own post below.  I had to include it in my favorites though.  I have used this nearly every single day and it has made such a huge difference in my skin.  It feels plump, hydrated, and borderline juicy.  The smell is relaxing and spa like.  Gorgeous oil all the way around.  Smell, texture, results…just amazing.  It’s perfect and I can’t imagine not having this in my skincare lineup.  http://www.clarinsusa.com/en/blue-orchid-face-treatment-oil/C010401002.html?start=2

Pixi Shea Butter Lip Balm:  I got this little gem in my Birchbox for May.  I didn’t think much of it, but have really enjoyed using it.  In fact, I’ve used it every day since I got it.  It smells like vanilla cake…super yummy…and it’s not only moisturizing, but pigmented.  I always wear a lip balm of sorts under my lipstick to prevent drying, so I’ve been using this under my lippies.  However, it is pigmented enough to wear alone.  I liked this better than the Revlon lip butters, which were quite popular.  Feels nice, smells nice, and hydrates the lips for quite a few hours.  I have the color, Coral Crush, which is a pretty peachy coral.  Loving this and wouldn’t mind trying other colors!  Target carries this line, but I believe you can also order online on the Pixi website.  http://www.pixibeauty.com/lips/shea-butter-lip-balm

NYX Dewy Finish Setting Spray:  I am in love with this product.  It’s cheap and works amazingly well.  In fact, I ran out of this stuff about a week ago and I’ve been using another setting spray that I loved prior to discovering the NYX.  Needless to say, I soon realized how much more I loved the NYX setting spray.  The other one I was using doesn’t hold a candle and it’s more expensive.  Go figure.  I have bought this both at Ulta and Target, but you can also purchase it on the NYX website.  I spray my face two or three times and my makeup is locked and loaded…all day.  It really does give your makeup a dewy finish, but it’s one that makes you appear healthy and glowy….not like you’re sweating.  Awesome stuff and I just repurchased it today.  I will continue to buy it unless I dare find one that I like better…  I can’t rave about this enough…it truly rocks.  Get this today if you haven’t tried it because you are really missing out!  http://www.nyxcosmetics.com/p-196-makeup-setting-spray.aspx

Elizabeth and James Nirvana Black Perfume:  Whoa.  Where do I start?!  So, about a month ago I was at Sephora checking out.  I was told that I had points to use and could redeem them if I wanted.  I liked the offers this time around, so I used some of my points to get the small rollerball version of this perfume.  It was literally love at first sniff.  This is gorgeous and I do mean GORGEOUS.  It’s a line of perfume that was created by the Olsen twins for Sephora.  I got mine at the store, but you may order online as well.  The notes are violet, sandalwood, and vanilla.  They should be sexy, sexy, sexy….because well, it is.  It clings to the skin and while it’s borderline masculine, it’s sweet enough to still be feminine.  It clings to the skin and lasts all day.  I love it the more I wear it and I’ve worn it a lot this month.  I always get compliments on it too.  There’s a Nirvana White too and apparently, you can mix the two together or wear them alone.  I found myself at Sephora tonight…oops!...and walked out with the white version.  It’s equally as pretty, but I haven’t had the chance to wear it yet.  Review on that to come!  SO impressed.  Give them a sniff when you’re at Sephora next.  I would even go as far as saying they are safe to purchase unsniffed, especially Nirvana Black.  Sophisticated, elegant, sexy, and unique.  Points were well spent and I’m in love.  It’s just that good.  http://www.sephora.com/brand/brandStore.jsp?searchTerm=ELIZABETH%20AND%20JAMES%20Nirvana%20Black%20Rollerball%20P384462&brandId=7028

That wraps up this session of monthly favorites.  Have you tried any of these products?  If so, what did you think of them?  I always like hearing other thoughts/reviews.  I have a feeling some of these will carry over into June.  I love them too much to remove from my product lineup.  Absolutely flawless.  Here’s to May products being a huge hit in my world!  What did you use and love this past month?

The primer that stole my heart.

I am a huge fan of primer.  I never understood the hype until I tried them and saw the difference they truly can make.  They make my makeup stay on and stay put so well.  It’s quite amazing, actually.  I’ve tried a few I didn’t like, but I’ve tried a few I do like.  You really just need to test the waters and ask for samples when you can.  Samples are always your friend!  Sephora will make you one on the spot if they don’t have any pre-packaged to give you.  However there is one that has risen to the top of my list and it’s the one I think of fondly when I hear the word, primer.  It’s the Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer.  That’s certainly a mouth full…

Smashbox is the mother of all mothers when it comes to primer.  They have a million different ones.  While I haven’t tried any of the others, I’ve heard amazing things.  Besides, I can’t imagine loving any others like I love the original Photo Finish.  It diminishes my pores, it makes my foundation stick until I want it removed, and it has the feeling of velvet.  It’s not at all greasy, but is moisturizing.  You will be tempted to use this alone without moisturizer, but it doesn’t take the place of one…remember that.  I use this after moisturizer and it goes on so smoothly…  It’s so weightless that it disappears into your skin before you can even blink as though they were meant to be one.  I’m not affiliated, but I am in love with this primer.  It took me from “what’s the big deal about a primer?” to “omg, I can’t imagine not using a primer…gimme more of this!”  Amazing.  Velvet.  Flawless.  You need this if you don’t already have it in your stash.  It will rock your world and keep your makeup on for days.  That is, if you want it on for days…  It’s won a ton of beauty awards and rightly so.  Here’s the skinny from the Smashbox site:  http://www.smashbox.com/product/6038/18502/Face/Primer/PHOTO-FINISH-FOUNDATION-PRIMER/Award-Winner/index.tmpl

LOVE is all I’m feeling for this beaut.  Let me know what you think of this if you’ve tried it.  *raises glass to the best primer in the universe*

Clarins Blue Orchid Face Treatment Oil….be still my heart.

Image

This entry will be about a product that I have come to know and love in a very short period of time. I bought this product about a month ago and I literally cannot stop using it. It’s luxurious, it smells amazing, and it feels like heaven on my skin. Never mind the fact that it’s magic in a bottle. I’m not really sure what it does; I only know that it makes my skin look and feel fantastic. This isn’t something I used a few times and saw results from…I saw them right away. I could have a love affair with this product. It’s none other than the Clarins Blue Orchid Face Treatment Oil. I won’t lie…I’m a complete sucker for product packaging and names. I heard the name of this…Blue Orchid Face Treatment Oil…and it stopped me mid thought, mid sentence, mid everything…and I said, “Oooooooh now what is that?! With a name that even sounds gorgeous, it’s got to be amazing stuff!” So, I started doing my beauty obsessed research that I resort to when I just have to know about a product and whether or not it’s any good.

I’m certain my wallet would wish I would stop. It’s a real sickness…this beauty stuff. I have an enormous skincare stash, but I knew I needed this in my life asap. I had a gift card to a department store in my area, so I bought this beauty. And since I used a gift card, no harm done if I didn’t like it…right? Like how I can justify any beauty purchase?! Well, the reviews I had read were accurate and the hype? Very deserved and very much the truth. This stuff feels gorgeous, smells gorgeous, and makes my skin look like the epitome of gorgeous. It’s for dehydrated skin and while it’s an oil, it sinks in right away. You aren’t left feeling like a grease pit, but rather with plump and juicy skin. It’s an oil that feels like velvet and sinks in before you can even blink. The smell had to grow on me because it does have a patchouli note, but not the dirty smelling patchouli. It’s a scent of maturity, elegance, and relaxation. It’s calming and feels like heaven when you put it on. I only use a tiny bit…maybe a couple of droplets…so it will last a long time I think. The directions say to use it every couple of days, but I’ve been using it every night. It’s magical and I can’t really explain why. I just know it gives results immediately. I’ve had a few samples here and there of Clarins products, but this one was my first full sized product. I’m completely smitten and I can’t wait to try more from the line. There aren’t enough words in the English language to explain how much I love this oil. I even look forward to washing my face at night just so I can use this product. Try this little beauty if you haven’t. The price is kind of steep, but your love for this will run deep. I will stop eating granola for the rest of my life if you don’t like it….and I LOVE granola… Point is, it’s a beautiful product and it will make your skin feel like satin. You will thank me.

If you’ve already tried it, let me know your thoughts. Also, if you have any other recommendations or must haves from Clarins…I’d love to hear them! Always looking for new things to try and add to my never ending wishlist. Much love.

April Favorites!

Tags

, , , , , , , ,

At the end of every month, I like to revisit the products that have been near and dear to my heart.  Here are the standouts from the month of April.

Milani Eyeshadow in Lily White.  I was cruising down the aisle in Walgreens when I spotted this beaut.  I immediately thought of using it as a highlighter, so I purchased it.  I can’t wear eyeshadow because it bothers my eyes, but I LOVE this as a highlighter.  It’s shimmery and gorgeous.  It adds just the right amount of glow on my cheekbones and I haven’t touched another highlighter since I bought this.  Perfection.  Read more here:  http://www.milanicosmetics.com/p-129-runway-eyes.aspx#!prettyPhoto%5Bgallery1%5D/0/

Dove Creme Mousse Body Wash.  This stuff is amazing.  I swear I’m not affiliated with Dove…I just really love their products.  I’ve gone through a couple of bottles of this and it’s just so nice.  Soft, smooth, lathers really well, and the scent is to die for.  Can’t say enough good things….just adore it.  Read more here:  http://www.dove.us/Products/Bar-Body-Wash/Body-Wash/Creme-Mousse-Deep-Moisture-Body-Wash.aspx

Tanya Burr Lip Gloss.  Oh.my.gosh.  These are fantastic in every way that a lip gloss could possibly be.  Tanya is a well known Youtube Beauty Guru that also happens to be a makeup artist.  She now has her very own line of lip gloss and nail polish.  I order from Feel Unique, which is based in the UK.  They won’t ship the nail polish internationally, but they can obviously ship the lip gloss.  I bought two initially to try and I’m hooked.  They are glossy, SUPER pigmented, and they smell like strawberry candy.  They also last quite awhile on the lips, especially if you wear them over a lipstick.  I am in love and just last night, I found out Feel Unique had restocked all of the colors in the range.  I ordered 7 more.  LOVE.  They sell out quickly, so get the color you want while you can.  Get them here:  http://www.feelunique.com/p/Tanya-Burr-Lip-Gloss-38g

So, as you can probably tell…I love blush.  In fact, I am borderline obsessed with it.  I buy it constantly and while I love lipstick the most…blush is a very close second.  Let me introduce you to my new love.  It’s Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-hour Blush in the color, Tipsy.  First, I have to ask…where has this been my whole life?!  It’s a peachy coral, but bright enough to give you a natural flushed look.  It looks bright..aka scary…in the pan…but, I promise it’s not once applied.  It’s a simple “I just ran a mile” flush yet with no sweat.  Makes your skin look healthy, glowy, and just alive.  Gorgeous.  It does wear for 12 hours, but honestly most of my makeup does.  I never touch my face and use a setting spray…works wonders.  I haven’t stopped using this blush since I first tried it.  I bought another one today in the shade, Glisten.  See?  I have a serious problem.  I swatched Glisten in the store and it’s beautiful.  I’m certain I will be writing a review on it soon.  Read more about this blush here:  http://tartecosmetics.com/tarte-item-Amazonian-clay-12-hour-blush

Ok, so this last item took awhile for me to love.  In fact, it took roughly a year.  Last year, every Youtube Beauty Guru was raving about Estee Lauder’s Bronze Goddess.  I took a sniff when I saw it in the store(don’t you just love how the women at the perfume counters attack you?!)and thought it was just “meh” to me.  Nothing special and certainly nothing I wanted to spurge on.  However, it was just something I wanted to love.  I smelled it again about a month ago and it was instant love.  I bought it on a whim and gave it a go.  Wore it for the following two weeks after that and received multiple compliments.  Some say it smells like a holiday in a bottle, some just say coconut, but I say it smells rich.  Sophisticated, sexy(because of the woody base notes after the initial dry down), clean, and just glamorous.  The bottle is sleek, gold, and elegant.  I have the same version that was out last year and I’ve been told that this year’s version smells the same.  I love any and all things coconut anyhow, so this was right up my alley even when I didn’t realize it!  Read more here:  http://www.esteelauder.com/product/9781/30195/Product-Catalog/Fragrance/For-Women/Bronze-Goddess/Bronze-Goddess/Eau-Frache-Skinscent/index.tmpl

That concludes all of my favorites for the month; hope that you enjoyed this post!  I always enjoy reading what others are loving too.  If you have any recommendations or if you’ve tried any of these products..let me know what you think!

5 Holy Grail Products….Say What?!

Tags

, , , , , , , ,

So being the beauty obsessed individual that I am, it takes a lot for me to deem something as “holy grail” status.  Sometimes, you just know…  Sometimes, it’s love right from the first application.  I’m going to talk about 5 products today that just never seem to leave my stash and are things that I buy over and over.

1.  Vaseline.  Yes, I know…  But, it’s amazing stuff and has a million uses.  The cocoa butter one is my favorite.  Smells like cake, it’s great for dry patches that like to flare up on my face at times, and it’s awesome for chapped lips.  I also will use this from time to time as an under-eye moisturizer.  It’s not for everyone, but it doesn’t clog my pores nor cause breakouts.  Always in my stash and I even have the Vaseline mini pots.  SO cute.  Who doesn’t love a mini, anyhow?  Read more here:  http://www.vaseline.us/product/jelly/cocoa-butter.html

2.  Dove bar soap.  I’ve used this for years.  I do mean YEARS.  Before becoming knowledgeable about skincare, I used this as my facial wash to remove makeup.  I don’t now as it can be a bit drying, but it’s still amazing stuff.  I have used every scent, but tend to always go back to the original white bath bar.  It gives me good memories and takes me back to a place when times were less complicated…less hectic…simpler.  It’s classic, lathers well, and will always be a staple of mine.  The scent reminds me of old fashioned cosmetics.  Pure, clean, slightly powdery, and definitely love at first sniff.  I hope to the moon and back that this is never discontinued.  I do love the newer scents too…Pistachio Cream even has its own blog entry.  Check it out below to hear more of my thoughts on that scent.  Here’s a link to this soap on the Dove site:  http://www.dove.us/Products/Bar-Body-Wash/Beauty-Bar/Dove-White-Beauty-Bar.aspx

3.  Lacura facial wash.  Pardon me while I have a soapbox moment here…  I have never loved a facial wash like I love this stuff.  Never.  I will always use this and I pray they never stop making it.  The real beauty of this gem is that it’s dirt cheap as in….under 3 dollars.  I get mine at Aldi, which is a grocery store chain in case you’re not familiar.  It’s made in Germany and it seriously is the best facial wash I’ve ever used.  I tossed it in my cart one day thinking, “oh I will give that a go…it’s cheap…”  I never imagined I would love it as much as I do.  Years later, I am still buying it.  I swear it has something in it that makes my eyelashes grow too.  I say that because I can tell a difference when I’m out and not using it.  Crazy, I know.  But, it’s incredible.  I’m not affiliated, but sort of wish I was!  I could be a spokesperson about this stuff.  Seriously.  It’s that good.  I will insert a picture because I couldn’t find a website directly for the company that really talked about the products…just mentioned it was sold at Aldi.  I do know that you can get it on Amazon too, but it’s a tad more expensive.

4. Jordana Best Lash Extreme mascara.  Okay first I must say, I HATE the packaging of this.  But, I deal with it because the formula is so amazing.  AMAZING.  It makes my lashes longer than long and I always get compliments on them.  I wore Revlon Fabulash for 7 years and it got discontinued.  I nearly cried.  I even wrote Revlon a letter, not that it even mattered.  Nonetheless, the search started for a new mascara and I was certain that nothing…I mean nothing…could hold a candle to my beloved Fabulash.  It was incredible.  I kept hearing about Jordana and for a little more than 3 bucks at Walgreens, I gave it a go.  Needless to say, I’ve been buying it faithfully ever since.  That was two years ago.  Hate the packaging and the mascara does get everywhere on the tube at times, but I can’t live without the formula.  My lashes love it and it loves my lashes.  I believe you can but it online, but I always just pick mine up at Walgreens.  Here’s a link for more info:  http://www.walgreens.com/store/c/jordana-best-lash-extreme-volumizing-mascara/ID=prod6092513-product?ext=gooBeauty_PLA_Expansion_Keywords_Broad_Beauty_Makeup_Eyes_Mascara_VB_Jordana_jordana_volumizing_mascara&sst=7d6f79a9-9236-f968-63b6-000049644f4c

5.  Last, but certainly not least is my favorite loose powder.  This stuff has been around since the 1930s, it smells like old fashioned cosmetics(here we go with that again...)it controls oil like no other, it’s cheap, and it lasts forever….on your face and in the container.  It is Coty Airspun Loose Powder.  The reviews of this are unreal, so I gave it a go a few years ago.  Needless to say, I’ve bought it ever since.  I am super fair, so I get the translucent one.  You can find this at Walmart and Walgreens.  If you have oily skin or just like your makeup to stay in place without having to do touch ups…this is for you.  It’s been around for decades for a reason.  Just saying.  Here’s the link so that you can read more about it:  http://www.walgreens.com/store/c/coty-airspun-airspun-loose-face-powder/ID=prod6577-product

Hope that you’ve enjoyed this post!  I always like hearing about holy grail products that others have.  When a beauty connoisseur deems something as just that, you know it must be a good ‘un.  I would love to hear what your HG products are, so please leave a comment below with any recommendations you might have.

Revlon: Guilty as Charged.

Revlon has done it again.  They have really brought it this year with their new powder blush.  You know how I mentioned Haute Pink a couple of weeks ago?  Well, I recently picked up three more colors in this line.  Guilty as charged.  They are, I am.  The last one I picked up is the reason for this blog post.  It’s not a color that screamed, “buy me!” when I saw it on the shelf.  In fact, I passed on it a couple of times before giving in to its temptation.  I thought it would be too light.  Well, I thought wrong.  Now mind you, I am fair skinned….we are talking English Rose type skin here….  SO, that could be the reason this shows up so well on my face.  But, after day two(didn’t take long to fall for this one)of using this beauty…I can tell you it’s very build-able and I think any skin tone could wear it.  Don’t let the lightness of it fool you like it did me.  This baby is pigmented and gorgeous.  It gives me that “oh wow, I look so dewy and fresh today” look.  To be honest, I just grabbed it and slapped it on today kind of in a hurry.  Hours later, I looked in the mirror at work and thought, “wow, my makeup looks fantastic today!”  I don’t think that often, so trust me…I definitely don’t say that out of arrogance.  It’s the kind of blush that somehow looks better the longer you wear it.  It settles on your face and just gives an impeccable glow.  It’s flawless, doll-like, and very angelic goddess looking.  Like you’ve just emerged from a commercial set or makeup chair with pink goodness all around you….fresh flowers, cotton candy, candles, and ethereal everything…

This is none other than, Oh Baby! Pink.  Told ya everything was pink!  Read more here:  http://www.revlon.com/Revlon-Home/Products/Face/Blush/Revlon%20Blush%20Poudre.aspx.

You need this in your life today.  Get to your nearest drugstore asap and pick this up.  You’ll be swooning in no time, I promise.  Then after wearing it a few hours, you will look in the mirror and suddenly find yourself uttering its name…Oh Baby!  Revlon, you have outdone yourself once again.  My cheeks and wallet thank you.  This is true beauty for a bargain and it’s quite the steal.  Be still my heart…I think I need the entire line.

Michael-Todd-Jojoba-Charcoal-Facial-Scrub-Made-In-USA__01420779_1

One day, Michael Todd skincare became all the rage on Youtube and in beauty blogs.  Some of the videos were sponsored and some were not.  I was curious to see what all of the hype was about.  It’s amazing how I don’t typically follow fads in any other aspect of my life, but when it comes to beauty…all bets are off.  I want to try everything, no matter how popular it is…or isn’t.  I jumped on the bandwagon and ordered a trial sized kit from Micheal Todd True Organics and several…ahem..many…orders later…there’s one little beauty that shines through no matter what I incorporate into my skincare routine.  I like a lot of the MTTO products and there are a few I even love, but this one….I am obsessed with.  I will never be without it.  I reach for it when my skin feels gross, under the weather, or lifeless.  I reach for this when I want to look especially pretty that day.  I reach for this just because I can.  It’s always in my arsenal and quite the little savior.  Hence, why I call it my “good skin day in a bottle” product.  I smile when I reach for the tube because I know that I can rely on it to give me amazing results.  It is none other than the Jojoba Charcoal Facial Scrub.  Read more here:  http://www.michaeltoddtrueorganics.com/product-type/scrubs-polishes/mtto-jojoba-charcoal-facial-scrub.html

This review isn’t sponsored.  I have bought this many times with my own money and will continue to do so.  I love this stuff….I can’t express how much.  You only need a tiny bit and the results are immediate. The jojoba beads are exfoliating, but still very gentle. I think even enough to use every few days, if you really want to. I use it about once a week, but more when my skin needs to look and feel brighter. The charcoal helps to detox your skin and clean out your pores in the meantime.  Just as I feel better when my makeup looks nice; I feel that much better when my skin looks nice.  After all, it’s your canvas.  It makes no difference what paint you use if the canvas hasn’t been cared for.  Try this if you haven’t; it’s truly amazing stuff.  You will thank me when your skin smiles back you.
